Book Recommendation No. 1 - The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

As you may have gathered from the title... this post contains profanity. If the word fuck offends you, you may want to skip to the next post. If profanity is your thang, glad you came! Enjoy
I am a self-professed, self-help junkie. My book shelves are lined with books that will help make me a better person and my audible library is all about getting my shit together, removing judgement, finding balance, and releasing my need to give a fuck about absolutely everything. I suffer from anxiety and most of the time my anxiety attacks (which feel kinda like a heart attack) are my own damn fault for caring to much about everything. My constant striving towards a better me, means that one day I may not enter into full-blown panic attacks when I over-think and over-analyse something to death.

This book was a game changer for me. I've listened to it 4x in the last 2 years and I get new ah-ha moments each and every time.

If you are one to struggle with anxiety and are consistently being plagued with worrying too much about every.fucking.little.thing, then this will be a game changer for you as well. If you are easily offended I suggest maybe switching to a softer toned book, but if you can handle hearing the F-bomb dropped on a regular basis and are open to mass truths infiltrating your ear drums, then dive in. This will seriously help put things into perspective for you and in-turn, help reduce some of the stress in your life if you are able to truly implement some of his advice.

In a nutshell, we only have so many fucks to give. We need to reel them in and start only giving fucks about the things that matter. Take some time to re-evaluate your priorities and realize that you do NOT have to worry yourself into a panic attack over every little thing. Our society is riddled with anxiety filled people who just give way too many fucks. People who are one more fuck away from having a nervous breakdown or full on panic attack and putting themselves in a hospital.

How the hell did we get to this point?!

People get offended over the stupidest things these days. Do you really need to care about the fact that your neighbor chooses to roam around her house in her birthday suit? Is it really your problem? Do you really have to give a shit? Likely not. Unless she's knocking on your door asking to borrow a cup of sugar in all her naked glory, mind your fucking business. Close the blinds. Look away. Get naked too! Join the fun and realize that it is actually quite liberating to stop giving a fuck and just rolling with it.

Not my example, but I enjoyed it non-the-less.

When you're ready, grab yourself a copy and read / listen with an open mind and an open heart. Mark dives into some deep shit over the course of this 224 page / 5hr 27min book.

It's light. It's fun. It'll open your eyes. It takes the traditional self-help genre and kinda flips it on it's side and makes you think.

In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be "positive" all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people.
For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F**k positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.
